Professor William (Bill) J. Buchanan OBE is a distinguished member of the faculty at the School of Computing, Edinburgh Napier University. He is renowned for his groundbreaking work in cybersecurity.
At Edinburgh Napier, he leads the Blockpass ID Lab and serves as the Director of the Centre for Cybersystems and Cryptography. His expertise in blockchain technology, digital identity, and cryptography makes him a pivotal figure in contemporary computing discussions.
In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Buchanan has made significant industrial impacts, leading to successful spin-outs such as Zonefox, Symphonic Software, and Cyan Forensics. His research has notably advanced the integration of homomorphic encryption and Zero Knowledge Proofs in digital identity systems.
